1-Poverty
There are a great number of causes of child abuse and the major cause of it is the poverty. If there are financial problems and poverty in families then chances of child abuse are increased to a great extent. The financial issues usually cause frustration and tension, and such people make the children targets and express all their frustration on them. So, it is observed that the lower middle classes have a great number of cases of child abuse.
2-Lack Of Education
On the number two, there comes another most important reason for the child abuse and that is the lack of education. Education has very importance in establishing a peaceful society but when there are ignorance and lack of education in a society then there will be many cases of abuse in the society including the child abuse. Especially, if parents are not aware of the skills of bringing up their children properly then this leads to the child abuse cases.
3-Parent's Childhood
In the list of the top ten reasons for the child abuse, the history of the parent's own childhood is also included. It is observed that usually those adults who suffered ill-treatment or abuse in their childhood are more likely to make target to their children of child abuse. Because such persons are usually more prone to violence, because they themselves grew up with very harsh methods of discipline that's why they can not show any politeness to their children.
4-Serious Marital Problems
Marital problems are considered among the root causes of child abuse, no doubt parents are role models for their children, so, the effects of their positive and negative behaviors in fact influence the personalities of their own children. It is observed that chances of child abuse are increased to a great extent in those families which are facing serious marital problems, and making their spouses the victims of physical abuse.
5-Alcohol And Drug Abuse
Although there are a great number of reasons behind child abuse but the fifth main cause of this evil is the Alcohol And Drug Abuse. The recent researches show that the substance abuse usually leads to child abuse to a great extent because the use of alcohol and other drugs cause people to lose their self-control. That's why those parents who are habitual of using these drugs are considered more likely to abuse their children.
6-Psychological Disorders
On number six, there comes another very important and crucial reason of child abuse and that is psychological or emotional disorders. If family members, especially, parents are struggling with depression, social anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder and other mental illness, then they can not bear the children and such people are more likely to abuse children and such parents are usually failed to bear the stresses of parenting.
7-Physical Illness Of Parents
The Physical illness of parents is as destructive for their children as their psychological or emotional disorders. It is observed that those parents or family members who are suffered from very serious diseases are coping with any kind of physical disability are more likely to abuse children. Such type of parents can not behave normally with their children and also fail to fulfil the basic needs of their parents.
8-Social Isolation
Among the great number of causes of child abuse, the social isolation, lack of support and loneliness are also included. If the family members, especially parents are facing the social isolation and loneliness then they are two times more likely to abuse the children. Children need love, care attention from all family members but when they can not get the desired attention and care then they become the victim of Neglect, a basic type of child abuse.
9-Work Pressure
Among the major types of child abuse, 'Child Neglect' is also included, it is basically a failure of family members, especially parents with the responsibility of providing needed care and attention for the children. Work pressure both in poor families or rich families causes the child neglect, they can not fulfill their parental responsibilities that's why they are more likely to abuse the children due to work pressure.
10-Parent's Unrealistic Expectations
In the last, I am going to share with you another very important cause of child abuse and that is the Parent's Unrealistic Expectations. It is observed that those teen or immature adults who enter into parenthood have usually unrealistic expectations, perhaps they have no idea about the fact that how much attention and care the children especially infants need, it is difficult for them to handle their children that's why it leads to child abuse.
