1-Quaid e Azam University
The Quaid e Azam University, commonly known as QAU is considered the most famous public research university situated in Islamabad which is the capital of Pakistan. Quaid e Azam University was founded in July 1967 and recently with more than 7800 students the university has four faculties, thirty-eight departments, schools, institutes and centers. QAU provides post-graduate, undergraduate, and doctoral programmes in several academic disciplines. In the field of Technology and Engineering, QAU was ranked in 2013 at 69 among top universities of the world.
2-Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences
Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences, commonly known as PIEAS is regarded as the second most famous public research university situated in Islamabad, Pakistan. In 1967, it was founded as 'Reactor School'but in the nineties, the institute got fame and started developing educational activities. The PIEAS university has one campus, eight workshops, nine academic blocks and almost thirty laboratories. Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences offers educational programs with engineering, science, technology and research.
3-Aga Khan University
The Aga Khan University, commonly known as AKU comes on the number three in the list of the most famous private research universities in Pakistan. The AKU is located in Karachi, Pakistan and it was established in 1983 and became the 1st private-sector university of Pakistan. The central campus of Aga Khan University is in Pakistan while teaching hospitals in the The United Kingdom and the African Great Lakes. The Aga Khan University offers almost four post-graduate programmes and five undergraduate programmes on two campuses Tanzania and Pakistan.
4-University of Agriculture, Faisalabad
The University of Agriculture- Faisalabad is considered the fourth most famous university of Pakistan, located in Faisalabad which is a famous city of Punjab, Pakistan. The University was founded in 1906 in the "undivided Punjab" as the 1st main university of higher agricultural education. The university campus comprises of more than 1,950-acre area and it is divided into seven faculties, Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Agriculture and social sciences are most famous of them and these faculties offer B.Sc, M.sc, M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes.
5-University of The Punjab
The University of The Punjab comes on the number five in the ranking list of Higher Education Commission. This public research university situated in the downtown area of Lahore, Pakistan and it was established in October 1882, that's why it is regarded as the largest and oldest public university of Pakistan. The University of The Punjab offers post-graduate, undergraduate, and doctoral programmes in several academic disciplines. The institute comprises of 13 faculties and there are sixty-three academic departments, institutes and over 30,000 is the current number of students.
6-National University of Sciences and Technology
The National University of Sciences and Technology, commonly known as "NUST" comes on the number six in the 2015 ranking list of Higher Education Commission. This public research university is located in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan and it was founded in March 1991 with the emphasis on 'STEM subjects' but now it offers academic programmes for the disciplines of economics, management, finance and also social sciences. Like KAIST of Korea, NUST is the first institute founded by Ministry of Science and Technology and currently over 7,000 students are enrolled here.
7-Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University
The PirMehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, commonly known as PMAS-Arid University comes on the number seven in the 2015 ranking list of Higher Education Commission while it is ranked at number two in Agriculture and Veterinary institutions. The university is located in Rawalpindi and it was established as an Agricultural college in 1970 but later in 1994, it was upgraded to the level of a university. PMAS-Arid University offers a wide range of post-graduate, undergraduate, and doctoral programmes academic disciplines such as Technology, Food Science, Computer Science, Agriculture and Animal Sciences.
8-University of Health Sciences Lahore
The University of Health Sciences Lahore, commonly known as "UHS" comes on the number eight in the 2015 ranking list of Higher Education Commission while it is ranked at number two in the field of health and medical sciences. This student-centered research university is situated in Lahore, Pakistan and it is basically an internationally recognised Medical university. The UHS was established on 02 October 2002 and it offers undergraduate and post-graduate degree programmes in the fields of pharmacy, biomedical engineering, medicine, nursing and dentistry.
9-COMSATS Institute of Information Technology
The COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, commonly known as "CIIT" comes on the number nine in the 2015 ranking list of Higher Education Commission while it is number one university in Computer Sciences and IT field. This public research multi-campus university is located in Islamabad and it was founded in 1998. CIIT has total eighteen departments and it offers almost ninety-six-degree programs, its main campus has the capacity for over 5,000 students, but its other campuses are spread all over the country having more than 30,000 students.
10-Lahore University of Management Sciences
The Lahore University of Management Sciences, commonly known as "LUMS" comes on the number ten in the 2015 ranking list of Higher Education Commission. This private research university is situated in Lahore, Pakistan and it was established in 1984 by the business-industrial community. The University offers undergraduate and post-graduate and doctoral degree programmes in the fields of arts, science, humanities and business management sciences. LUMS is also a member of United Kingdom's "Association of Commonwealth Universities".
