1-Chile- 1960

In Chile on 22 may 1960 at 19:11:14 pm this earthquake came with the magnitude of record 9.5 rector scale. This was the largest earthquake in the world. In the Valdivia-Puerto Mont area, there was severe damage due to shaking in this area. This port was destroyed in the resultant Tsunami that caused approximately $550m worth of damage in Chile. In this earthquake around 1650 killed, 3000 injured and 200,000 homeless in southern Chile. This earthquake also affected in Philippine and Japan as well.

There was also heavy damage due to landslides in Anchorage. Across south-central Alaska, collapsing structures and tsunamis resulting from this earthquake caused 143 deaths. This earthquake was conveyed by vertical displacement an area about 520,000 sq. meters. This shock generated a tsunami that destroyed most of the town in this state.

Approximately 19000 children died in this earthquake. More than 500,000 families affected by this earthquake. While in Islamabad the Mar gala towers collapsed and killed many of the people. There were many secondary earthquakes in the region that is known as aftershocks.
